SITP Experience

Norbugang Central School, Samtse Being a teacher always has its rewards, and I recently had the chance to work as a teacher and teach biology to ninth-graders. Even though my time at Norbugang Central School was brief, the knowledge and experiences I picked up there much outweigh all I learned in high school and college put together. I had a wonderful time interacting with my pupils, and I was inspired by how much they had taught me about relationships, academic practices, and how to acquire patience and compassion for children who are not related to you.  This experience showed me that students are far more likely to enjoy and pay attention to you when you enter the classroom with a cheerful and confident personality. After I started to feel more at ease in the classr oom, both my pupils and I started to enjoy teaching more. There are basically four philosophies of education namely perennialism, essentialism, progressivism, and reconstructionism that derive from the larger philosophical systems we have discussed. We looked into these particular educational philosophies because each one can be tested over time to bring a significant impact on Bhutanese education system.   Conceptions of Curriculum Main take away from unit one The Conceptions and Aspects of Curriculum are covered in unit one of the module. Conceptions of curriculum can be used to look at a curriculum through various viewpoints. Curriculum mainly focuses on social and culture needs, the individuals needs or subject matter. According to curriculum developers and teachers who have varying perspectives on what curriculum is concerned with and what it should be attempting to accomplish, there are basically seven conceptions of curriculum: cognitive processes conception, humanistic conception, social reconstructionist conception, technological conception, academic subject conception, eclectic concepts, and curriculum as a manipulative strategy.
